New Patch in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Adds Trials, Dungeons, Gear

Warriors of Light, assemble! The latest patch for Final Fantasy XIV has hit and like the calamitous meteor, it’s causing some big waves. Patch 3.5, The Far Edge of Fate is wrapping up Heavensward and is leading the way into the next expansion, Stormblood (Check out the expansion trailer and red mage trailer here)

Story Content

The patch is vague. If you’re up to date with everything then we’ve successfully ended the Dragon Song War and thwarted the Warriors of Darkness. All the patch states is, “once more do the Scions of the Seventh Dawn set their feet upon fate’s path and their gaze upon distant horizons,” which leaves a nice, big open space for speculation. Whether or not the patch adds a lot to the story is of little consequence though, as it seems to be delivering far more in other areas.

Trials, Raids, Dungeons

New to dungeons we have an updated, harder Sohm Al, and completely new Baelsar’s Wall, which looks to be an imperial fortress and home to an impress steampunk-like gear set. Those keeping up with the Alliance dungeons will see an update to our air pirate storyline infested with void enemies, Dun Scaith.

In addition to Sophia the Goddess and Sephirot the Fiend, we’re getting Zurvan. You might think that Zurvan doesn’t look to bad compared to the other two trials, but something tells me you don’t want to see this demon unchained …

PvP

If PvP hasn’t really been your thing, then this new gear might change your mind.

Thanks to a collaboration with Japanese sentai television show GARO, grinding PvP matches can land you with a set of one of these beauties! More importantly, these GARO inspired mounts are sure to come with some insane bragging rights.

Party Finder Update

Perhaps the most important detail of the update however, is that the Party Finder has been severely updated. Now, when looking for a party to go dungeon hopping the Party Finder will pull information from your entire data center! Don’t know what that means? Basically, the Party Finder can now help you get a party quicker by sending out your message to more people. Huge improvement for those just starting out on newb dungeons or if you just want to find some people to farm for a drop.
